OUR WORK

Community.

We live in a culturally diverse society where coexistence doesn't always imply mutual understanding. Heritage is one of the best ways to bring us together, create bonds and focus on what we have in common.

At Boukra we believe in the power of community when it comes to empowering our future through culture and nature.
Therefore, the overarching goal of our work is to actively involve all components of society in the protection of our common values and heritage.

Identity building: We aim to highlight our rich and diverse traditions while fostering dialogue through shared projects. This allows to deepen the bonds between the different members of a community, or between two different communities .

Cross-cultural bonds: And since Cultural Diversty implies respecting others and learning from them, our work also includes a strong link to foreign cultures. We strive to create even deeper inter-cultural connections by supporting international collaborations in the field of the arts and culture.

OUR PROJECTS.

Workshops and reflexion groups.

We promote responsible citizenship through a series of talks, film screenings and (online) seminars. We invite scholars, experts, activists, practitioners, influencers, policy makers and other like-minded actors to reflect on current issues and solutions.

Our workshops, events and interest groups are open to all and cover a wide range of topics.

Socially engaged Art.

We harness the power and popularity of art to engage with people and spread awareness about Heritage & Sustainability.

We collaborated with Home of Cine-Jam to bring their award-winning series "Zyara" to the schools in Mtein, resulting in a short and very emotional film about the pupils' reactions to injustice and bullying. We also showed their movie "Ard Bayyeh" at Beit Jeddé in the summer of 2019 to raise awareness about the value of land and traditions, as seen through an artistic lense.

We regularly host performances by local artists who incorporate elements of traditional music into their style.

The Tomorrow Institute.

The Tomorrow Institute is a space for reflexion, dialogue, education, knowledge-sharing and awareness-raising. Here, like-minded stakeholders can connect and research topics related to Heritage and Sustainability.
We bring together groups of volunteers, heritage enthusiasts, artists and engaged citizens. At the Tomorrow Institute we connect, share, innovate and empower.

OUR WORK:
We scout innovative, sustainable initiatives and make them accessible to the broader public.
We support new and emerging design and research on issues like urban agriculture, nature-based solutions, or frugal design.

The public is invited to participate through workshops, webinars and on-site activities.
